Animals for Sale

We have no animals for sale, and probably won’t until late 2008!

Purchasing a Chinchilla

I always prefer that the purchase of any chinchilla be for pet or going to a reputable breeder. I do advise that I will choose a local home before shipping. A non-refundable deposit of $50 is required to hold any chinchilla. This deposit must be received within one week of request, or the animal will go back up for sale. Payment in full must be received prior to any chinchilla leaving our home. Payment methods include Paypal (pitterpatterchins@msn.com) which takes credit cards, Money Orders, or cash. A 4% charge is added, due to Paypal’s fees.

Arrival of Your New Chin

When a chinchilla goes to its new home, your chinchilla may be stressed due to the change in the environment. Things like smells, sounds, and the new people and sometimes pets are a very big change to such a tiny animal, and can cause the chinchilla to have a slight lack in appetite, and soft poos for the first few days. I recommend that if your chin has soft poos to add baby rice cereal by Gerber to your chinchilla’s food. It only takes about one day of your chinchilla eating this (about 1-2 tablespoons worth) to clear this problem up, and it does help encourage appetite. Give your chinchilla a good week or more to adjust to its new home and family. Your chinchilla will adjust, and be a happy edition to your family!

Additional Costs that can be expected

Shipping is typically the only additional cost that can be accrued. As of March 2007, MOST airlines have increased costs substantially. Currently, we ship out of Spokane on Alaska Airlines, Frontier, Northwest, and limited Delta. Shipping alone runs from $180-$270. Due to our long favored vet moving out of the area, health certificates have become more difficult to attain. They often start at $40, and then $15 per each additional animal. Our other option is $44 for the first animal, then $32 for each additional. We are CONSTANTLY on the lookout for a competent vet to issue health certs to save you money!

Crates

Crates now require a deposit, as too many have not been returned. Crate deposits start at $15 and increased based upon the number of holes. Due to recent requests, I must state that we will NOT drive to Seattle to make your shipping costs less. Seattle is a 6 hour drive one way, and round trip we spend close to $180 in gas. However, twice a year we do go to Seattle, and if we already have a trip planned, we have no objections to shipping chinchillas out of Sea-Tac at that time.
