The other pets

Ivan

Please meet Ivan the Corgi/Whatever. All we know for sure is that his mother was a Cardigan Corgi, and that the father was something BIG! Ivan is about 45lbs, and reminds me of a corgi on steroids. Ivan was adopted from the local humane society in September of 2002. He was approximately 2-3 years old at the time of his adoption. He gets along fantastically with Lila, and needs as much attention as he can possibly have! He loves to get in the car, but once it starts to move, all bets are off! He enjoys other dogs, and thinks children are the best! He is the perfect guard dog, but don’t let his bark fool you! He is all kisses and loves!

Lila

Lila came to reside with us in May of 2003 and is our only family pet that is from a pet shop. We have a rule that our cats and dogs do not come from pet mills, but she was advertised as 8 weeks old, and we knew that wasn’t possible. At less than a pound in weight, covered in fleas, and with an eye infection and cold, she was a $45 no return policy kitty. It didn’t take long to get Lila to where she needed to be, but it would take a special person to work with her. Lila has quite the personality!

Lila also has a “mood disorder” (thats putting it mildly) and doesn’t like people most days of the year. She prefers to be left alone, and we normally only see her when its time to be fed. She is our only pet who is declawed, and this was because her severely aggressive behavior had almost endangered a child. After various techniques the vet recommended, we decided to go against what we agree with, and had her declawed. We must state that this was other’s safety! Although Lila is not a “desireable” kitty, we love her dearly and spend a great deal of time working with her to keep her somewhat sociable. Lila’s favorite companion is our dog, Ivan. Those two are buds for life!

Conan

Conan came to us from the county animal shelter and was adopted during a time when the shelter had received over 60 cats and was adopting them to anyone who could possibly give them a home. This was back in November of 2004, and he was four months old at the time. He is now a 12lb big boy!

Conan is extremely people oriented, but loves the dog more than anyone else! He will gladly let you know he is around, and when he wants attention! He is often found walking around and purring. He loves to play with toys and thinks adult guests are here for him!
